If you have a leaking radiator, you may need to have a stop-leak detector installed.
If your radiator leaks, you’ll need to be able to tell the difference between a leaky sensor and a sensor that’s not leaking.
“The sensor that you have has a lot of leakage and if you have the sensor that is not leaking, then you can’t tell the differences between the two,” said Steve Kostanski, the manager of technology for the Canadian Radiators Association.
“The problem with sensor leaks is they tend to happen in very specific situations.”
That means, for example, if your radiator is leaking a lot, you’re probably not going to see the sensor you need, Kostansky said.
That’s why you’ll likely need to replace it, even if it’s just for a few days.
The best way to tell if you need a stop leak detection is to have it installed.
You can do it yourself or order one online, but most of the time, you can get it delivered to you by a professional radiator supplier.
Here’s how to install a stop sensor on your radiator.

It’s important to look at your radiator sensor’s output voltage and see if that’s changing, said Dave Johnson, an engineer with a company called Thermocool.
If you have an overheating problem, for instance, your sensor may be doing too much work and not letting you see the difference, Johnson said.
The next step is to find out if that is the case.
“When you have overheating issues, you know that the sensor is probably not being properly calibrated,” Johnson said in an email.
“If you’re seeing a high or low output voltage, it’s likely that your sensor is not being calibrated.”
You may have to do a little bit of research to figure out if you’re overheating or if there’s something else going on, Johnson added.
“It’s a good idea to use an open circuit sensor that can measure the output voltage of the device.
That way you can measure if it needs to be calibrated or if you should go ahead and replace it.”
If your leak detection sensor is doing too little, it may not be able be replaced if you already have a leak, but you may have a way to stop it.
Johnson said you could use a device called a stop stop switch.
That means that the output of your sensor will stop if it reaches 0 volts, but it won’t go on to go too high.
Johnson said that the stop stop is very simple and inexpensive, but there are also a few different ways to get one.
You could order one directly from Thermocaool, or you could try a supplier who does warranty repairs.
Thermocoool also has a service call center where they can call to make sure you’re receiving the right service.
If your sensor doesn’t have a built-in stop stop function, you could order a new one from a company like AEG that will take care of it.
AEG has a stop detection function that uses a switch on the back of the sensor.
You can also install a sensor on the side of your radiator where it meets the backside of your cooler, like you would with a thermostat.
TherMocaool says the sensors are designed for the front of a cooler, but if you install them on the rear, they can be used for the sides as well.
“You can have an additional sensor on that side of the radiator,” Kostanksi said.
If all else fails, you might be able find a replacement sensor that works on the internet.
ThermoTech, a company that makes a range of products for cooling systems, says it can do sensors that will stop and run at 0 volts on your water pump and will run at 2 volts on a radiator.
Thermocoo also sells a sensor with a stop switch, but the company says that’s only for cooling purposes.
The most common method of stopping a leak is to replace the sensor completely, said Johnson.
If that doesn’t work, you should replace the leak detection circuit on the sensor as well, he said.
You should also be aware that some radiator brands have been known to make false claims that they will stop leaking.
For instance, the Thermacoool sensor may work on some models of the S35x but not on the ThermoCool sensor, Johnson explained.
You may also have to check the label on the product if you don’t know the brand.
